The Orthopaedic Therapy clinic provides injury prevention assessments. It is well known that physical activity contributes to the prevention and management of many medical conditions such as Type II diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, some types of cancer and mental health issues such as depression and Alzheimer’s and is very helpful for back pain treatment and knee pain treatment.* With physical activity there is also the risk of potential injury. Our injury prevention assessment evaluates your muscle strength using a force dynanmometer that allows us to compare your strength to established research data of other individuals of similar age and weight. If your strength is below the average your risk of injury may be higher with physical activity. This thorough examination identifies areas where you may have deficits that can then be addressed in your exercise program.
