John specializes in clients who have encountered barriers in progressing their fitness as a result of ageing, illness or injury.

Using a movement-control approach to help manage orthopaedic and neurological conditions, treat and prevent re-injury caused by activities or sports, he achieves improved levels of performance. John also provides specialized rehab and exercise services to help cancer patients manage physical effects of treatment and regain their independence.

John joined The Orthopaedic Therapy Clinic Team in 2013, having worked with the team in various capacities since 1997. He is a registered kinesiologist holding both a Master’s degree in Biomechanics from Queen’s University and an Honours Bachelor of Physical and Health Education degree from the University of Toronto.

John’s post-graduate education has taken him around the world. He has studied in England, the United States, Australia and Asia. His practice uses exercise and movement therapy to help manage injuries and neurological conditions. He is passionate about helping clients to overcome barriers to progressing their fitness and preventing re-injury caused by sports and everyday activities.

John embraces the philosophy of Exercise is Medicine and is currently pursuing a certification in this newly introduced program to Canada. He is certified in WellSpring’s CancerSmart Exercise program and provides exercise for individuals preparing for cancer-related treatments, undergoing treatment and following treatment.

In addition to working at The Orthopaedic Therapy Clinic, John serves on the Council of the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario link. Since 2005 he has been the Sports Conditioning Consultant to the University of Toronto Women’s Varsity Volleyball Team, FIVB[1] world-tour women’s beach volleyball athletes, and Team 2020 future Olympians in Archery in their goals toward podium performances.

John is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences, and is published in several highly respected scientific journals in Physical Therapy and Kinesiology. He has recently co-authored a paper with the world-respected back expert, Dr. S. McGill, PhD., Health.

Association Memberships and Awards

John holds a professional membership with the Ontario Kinesiology Association and is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

He has been recognized by his peers as an “Educational Influential” in Kinesiology through the Ontario Institute for Work and Health.
