Our approach begins with your diagnosis. This assessment goes beyond an understanding of what you have and looks to determine why you have it. It is the foundation for an individualized and targeted program to help relieve pain and restore function. Every member of our team is committed to providing collaborated care that is efficient and effective. We empower you to take control of your recovery and achieve results through our commitment to excellence and ongoing education.

Empowering you to take control

We empower you to take control of your rehabilitation process. This begins with education on the cause of your condition and the steps you can take to maximize your recovery. We look for the external factors which may be contributing to a delay in recovery and advise you on the changes to your lifestyle, ergonomics or work habits that can help you to get back on track.

Ultimately the focus is on prevention. Once you have recovered our approach shifts to addressing the factors which predict recurrence and helping you to determine a program to maintain your physical health over the long term.

Effective and Efficient Rehabilitation

Whether your condition is acute, chronic or recurrent we can help you to determine an effective and efficient plan for your therapy. We recognize that both pain and the time spent in therapy impact on your quality of life. An effective rehabilitation program reduces the time spent in treatment and allows you to reclaim your independence much faster. Often our expertise allows us to select a few well-chosen, specific exercises or lifestyle changes that can be easily incorporated into your day which can make a big difference to your recovery. We work with you one-on-one to ensure your program is best suited to meet your rehabilitation needs.

We work with you and your health professionals in developing programs which meet your needs and to coordinate your treatment. Our inter-disciplinary clinic is committed to communication and collaboration within your health community and with the professionals of your Orthopaedic Therapy Clinic’s multi-disciplinary team. Our clinic structure focuses on effective communication strategies to help you to know what you need and when you need it.

Committed to Excellence and Ongoing Education

Each therapist is committed to ongoing growth and development both through our ongoing pursuit of education and through our teaching in the community.

We stand behind our commitment to excellence and ongoing education through our association with the University of Toronto. We are a teaching facility, providing clinic internships for the Masters level students. We also work with internationally educated physiotherapists who are starting to practice in Canada. These educational experiences broaden the horizon of our clinical team.

We continue this commitment with our involvement with the teaching hospitals through our provision of assessment services as well as involvement in research projects such as the UHN study for early diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis.
