Our therapists are experienced in the rehabilitation of spondyloarthopathies and ankylosing spondylitis. Once a patient is stabilized on their medication regimen, a program of stretching, strengthening and postural correction exercises has been shown to be safe and effective in maintaining and/or improving spinal mobility.
We base our assessment on the “BASMI “(The Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Measurement Index) https://www.carearthritis.com and use changes to quantify clinically significant improvements in spinal motion and posture . We include specific patient goals in our treatment plan.
Our program provides an individualized program of exercise, pain relieving modalities and “hands-on” physiotherapy. We prepare an independent exercise program for home or gym.
Our approach is to find the best plan for you to regain joint flexibility, strength and function as quickly and safely as possible. We take into account the systemic nature of the disease to help you to stay active without overstraining your joints and ligaments
Who will benefit?
Anyone who has a diagnosis of spondyloarthopathy or ankylosing spondylitis who would like to maintain or regain flexibility, strength and function. We also provide pre-habilitation programs to prepare you for joint replacement or arthroscopic surgeries.
